Janet SweetJanet Simmons Sweet’s art consists of oil or acrylic on canvas, classified as realism, with aspects of impressionism. A self-taught Artist, subject matter is either nature based, or historical structures. This explains her passion for the Alton Mill, where she currently has a Studio. Situated in an historic building, right on the Shaw’s Creek, her Studio has walls over one hundred years old, and overlooks the waterfall that once powered the Mill . It is the perfect inspirational environment for her to create.
Janet has exhibited extensively in the past few years in Brampton and surrounding areas. You can find her work regularly in the Gallery in Beaux-Arts, with a solo show planned for August 2009. Other pieces can regularly be found in Coffee Culture in downtown Brampton, Beacon II, and in Ray’s Bakery in Alton, and of course in the Historical Alton Mill.
